Christmas pistachio & cream tart
Updated: Jan 10, 2022
Happy Christmas Tree Day! 🎄🎄🎄
Traditionally in Italy we make Christmas Tree on this day so I made a celebratory treat for this occasion: a Christmas pistachio & cream tart! 😋
It's no bake, super easy and super delicious. The crust is made with Cinnamon Churros, it's filled with pastry cream and covered with chopped pistachios.
You can check out how I made it in the section below the picture!

INGREDIENTS:
--- CEREAL CRUST ---
150g Cinnamon Churros
80g butter
--- FILLING ---
500g pastry cream
--- TOPPING ---
Chopped pistachios

DIRECTIONS:
Crumble Cinnamon Churros with a food processor and put them in a bowl.
Melt the butter in the microwave or on the stove and mix it with the cereal powder until you get the consistency of wet sand.
Press this mixture into the bottom and the sides of a 18cm pie/tart dish and place the crust in the freezer to set while making the filling.
Make pastry cream ( I don't have a recipe for that since I bought it 😅 but there are hundreds of recipe online if you want to make it from scratch!) and fill the crust with it.
Cover the surface with chopped pistachios (I used a cookie cutter to create the Christmas tree in the middle) and add a Cinnamon Churros on top of the tree.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight before slicing and serving it.
Enjoy :)
RECIPE NOTES:
My crust was a bit crumbly because I didn't turn the cereal into powder properly and I left bigger cereal pieces. I don't suggest you to do that.
Store the pie in the fridge for 3-4 days.
